Eric, I have to admit that I am not familiar with Edge, but I am looking for a copy of the book now. Thanks for the heads up.

Brad - I've really enjoyed reading your history of the missional church. Thanks for sharing your D.min project online for all to read. I've been working on my D.min work this year. I built a project testing missional formation. Been very intrigueing. Lots of writing now to finish.

One question both about your history and your bibliography. You do not include Findley Edge's book called The Greening of the Church written in 1971. Edge was a Christian Education prof at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary - long before Mohler was born. Reacting to Southern Baptists in the 1950's he began to question how we do church - why he asked "if we have so many more southern baptists do we now have more transformation in behavior in Christian lives."

His first book to challenge these ideas was called A Quest for vitality in Religion. He then wrote Greening in 1971. The book predates most of our "Missional Church" books, but it presents both a missional theology and a missional praxis. Most of the things I see writers presenting as a new idea I can trace back to idea Edge wrote in this book.

Anyway - hope you find Edge and his book interesting. I continue to follow your blog. Hope your writing goes well.
